Many evening screenings are followed by a Q&A with the director of the film.

This year’s Opening Film is the Special Preview of A Year Ago In Winter directed by Caroline Link, who won the Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film for Nowhere in Africa. Her latest film is an insightful and sensitive portrayal of the effects of a child’s suicide
on different family members, bringing suppressed feelings and secrets to the surface on the long way to healing. This gracefully shot film screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and stars Karoline Herfurth, Corinna Harfouch and Josef Bierbichler.
